Of Butterflies and Dragons

.

A simple desire,
a matter of fact,
a bit of discovery
kept a spirit intact.

To float on a wish for
with hope as your wings,
this dragon remembers
how to dream within dreams.

Soft as a petal,
as easy as why,
you spread out your heart
then take to the sky.

You see the horizon,
the yellows and blues,
Eternity beckons
this lift within you.

To dance with the stardust,
a dream catcher’s eye,
this dragon remembers
a soft butterfly.

A flutter of lashes
A butterfly’s kiss
A long everlasting
We cease to resist….

Chocolate

I once held a nugget
All chocolate and bright,
It danced ‘round my nose
Then vanished from sight.

“Oh, where did you go?”
I asked, licking my lips.
You were here for a moment
Between ~ fingertips.

I would like to invite you
Back, if you please,
For just a small taste
Of your company.

Oh, don’t you be silly,
I really won’t mind
If you bring along friends.
I’ll introduce you to mine:

This is marshmallow.
Over here, Peter Pan.
Caramel’s my friend
With the golden, light tan.

You don’t have to worry,
I’ll take care of you.
I will teach you to swim
In this pan for fondue.

Just think of yourself,
All warm and so thick.
I could swirl you around
With some fruit on a stick.

It’s up to you, truly.
There’s nothing amiss.
I would wrap you in foil
Then call you a kiss.

But if you’re still frightened,
Well, I understand.
Just hide in my mouth
You might melt in my hand…..

Pieces of me

.

.

Fate
A gentle cool breeze
Fell light upon my ear
Nourishing a dying rose
With incidental tears

Emotions
Once thought dead to me
Ones cast away with fear
Plunging onto jagged rock
Now clouds of hope appear

……….But…………

Blindness
Sometimes renders
Visions clearly seen
Words of understanding
Pirouette on what they mean

Slowly
Upon fragile ice
I step with caution’s heed
So’s not to drown in sorrow
When air is what I need

……….So……….

Similarities
Befall us
Unsure of what to feel
Not wanting the uncertainties
No matter their appeal

Trusting
Must come slowly
Turned within a potter’s hand
A masterpiece before us
After firing will stand

………Now……….

I wish
I were love’s mason
I would mend your tragedy
And fill your gaps of emptiness
With little bits of me

I would
Sew a smile on your face
If handy with the thread
But a kiss is all I offer
And a brighter road ahead……………….

While You Were Sleeping

While you were sleeping
I blew you a kiss
It landed so gently
Upon your sweet lips

While you were sleeping
I heard the birds sing
Outside of my window
Down by the wood swing

The sun started peeking
Above the tree tops
While you were sleeping
To dry the dew drops

While you were sleeping
I spelled out your name
Traced on silk sheets
My heart was to blame

While you were sleeping
I caught a glimpse of
For while you were sleeping
Was when I found love…..

When I Go

Kiss me now
Hold me for awhile
The last thing I want to taste
Is your sweet smile

Come on out
Walk beside me
A few last steps
To fill my memories

Hold my hand
Hold on tight
The last dream I need to have
Is of you tonight

Before I close my eyes
I need you to know
If morning doesn’t come
I’ll take you when I go

Come here close
Whisper in my ear
The last words you need to speak
I long to hear

Please don’t cry
Don’t wear a frown
My life has been complete
With you around

Lay down here
Next to me
I want to hear your heart
Feel you breathe

I’ll leave this world behind
Take my soul
But you are part of me
I’ll take you when I go…
